We live in a society of victims. We are victims of our genealogy, our environment, our education, our gender, and on the list goes. We are no longer responsible for what happens to us, but are victims of what happens to us. We are hapless individuals who are under control of things we can’t control. At least that’s the line we are telling ourselves. We can be victims or victors. When it comes to weight loss, there are many obstacles that could easily turn us into victims. Emotions, for example, are those nasty things that make us eat when we know we shouldn’t. I’m just a victim of my runaway emotions. But we don’t have to be victims. The third law of Newton’s laws of motions states that for every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction. If your emotions are exerting a force on your weight loss, then you need a greater force to offset it. Overcoming emotional eating is a whole subject in itself, but suffice it to say, you don’t need to be a victim of your emotions.
