What would Jesus eat? There have been articles and books written to suggest that what Jesus ate we should eat. In that region of the world, lentils, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, dates, nuts, and fish were all quite popular and plentiful. It was more plant-based because of the inability to refrigerate. Plus they used the cattle, goats, and sheep for other purposes that eating. So what did Jesus eat? He ate what was available at the time. Since there were no refrigerators or microwaves or toasters they dried their food or fixed it daily. My take on this is Jesus just ate what everyone else ate. He didn’t think about it as He did not take thought about what to eat. So what would Jesus eat today? If He came to your house to eat as was often His custom, He would eat what you served. I don’t think that we can take what Jesus ate 2,000 years ago as a divine diet. If you want to eat what Israel ate 2,000 years ago, then go for it. But to think it was any better than what we eat now, or a divine revelation of eating clean, then I think we are mostly thinking amiss. Same is true for Paleo.
