As I slowly move toward my weight loss goal, I ponder the accompanying struggles in dieting. For me, they don’t seem to go away. Like the five foods to never eat we talked about yesterday, there will be foods that I should put on my list to avoid from now on. Desserts are a big problem. On our trip to California we stopped at the Big Texan and split a steak dinner. Okay, so far so good. But the dessert display case had some delicious looking cakes. I succumbed to the carrot cake. It was a humongous slice and although we shared it, it was too big, too much. Not wanting to take any with us, we did the noble thing and left it. Desserts call me. Charlene made some cupcakes for the neighbors the other day. It was all I could do to keep from begging for one. She wouldn’t have given me one anyway so no use in begging. I think I will have to be on guard the rest of my life. My daughter makes some interesting/unique (strange?) desserts which aren’t so unhealthy, but desserts still add up the calories. Though nothing is forbidden, discretion says I had better not eat that donut.
