Within the past month, the FDA has approved two new prescription weight-loss drugs. These are the first diet drugs approved in 13 years as a prescription weight-loss medication. They have been reluctant to do so since the last one had so many tragic side effects. These diet pills are for obese or overweight people who have at least one additional health problem, such as high blood pressure.
As with prescription medication, there is a host of possible side effects. And it always alerts us to the fact that the fewer medications, the better. Losing weight has a huge effect on health. Losing weight is also hard. Some people will need some help and these drugs may help.
That said, even though losing weight is hard, it’s not impossible. It does take a great deal of effort and focus. During trying times, it becomes even more difficult. The best way to lose weight is following a good diet plan and exercise. There is no magic pill. There is not fast way to lose weight, unless you go on Biggest Loser and then you are going to work it off.
I would caution taking prescription drugs to lose weight. If your doctor recommends it because of your health risks, considering it prayerfully. There are always risks. Weigh the risks to see what you most need to reach a healthy weight.
