I found a weight goal calculator and ran my height, gender, and age through it. It’s primarily based on height, but this one takes into account age and gender. There are several people who have formulated ways of calculating ideal weight. My results were:
Based on the Robinson formula (1983), your ideal weight is 156.5 lbs.
Based on the Miller formula (1983), your ideal weight is 155.0 lbs.
Based on the Devine formula (1974), your ideal weight is 160.9 lbs.
Based on the Hamwi formula (1964), your ideal weight is 165.3 lbs.
Based on the healthy BMI recommendation, your recommended weight is 128.9 lbs. – 174.2 lbs.
Another chart suggested 132 to 167.
The calculator we have on the website on the right just looks at height and mine says 128 to 173.
That is a wide range. I do know that I have to reach 174 to go from a BMI of overweight to normal. That’s my goal. I still have a way to go. My dad, who was the same height as me, was 165 all his life. I’m shooting for the top end of the scale. Choose the right weight for you.
