Week nine on the diet is “fertig” which is German for finished. Still on track with a week ahead at the beach which presents some challenges. Last time we were at the beach we continued to lose weight. This week we will also lose weight.
I’ve blogged before about my dislike for goals. But when you are reaching your goals, they don’t seem too bad. I remember a time when I was filling up my to-do list after I had done them and then crossing them off. That way I looked like I was doing something. Well it was more of a journal of my time then a to-do list.
That’s kind of like how I feel about goals. When I reach a goal, I write it down then cross it off. However, I do have a couple of goals set. One is to stick to the plan. I have an eating plan and I’m going to stick to it. If I stick to the plan, it works. When a plan works, it’s easier to stick to. It’s like a snowball rolling down the hill. It picks up speed and gets bigger as it goes. Success is always a good motivator.
I do have a short-range goal of losing 5 pounds. I’m setting them at 5 pound intervals to make the goal always in sight. It’s doable and it’s reasonable. And attached to that is a long-term goal of losing 20 pounds by my birthday. That also is attainable if I stick to the plan and rely on God’s grace to carry me through the mean times.
I have my goal on my spreadsheet. It’s red until I make it and then I color it green and set the next goal. I like to see progress.
So far I have lost 22 pounds and Charlene has lost 14 pounds. And we don’t ever plan to look for them.
