“I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me” (2 Corinthians 12:8 NKJV). This concerns Paul’s thorn in the flesh incident. Notice Paul said he pleaded three times. That’s very specific, not two, not four, but three. Three in scripture means complete or perfection as the Trinity is the perfection and completeness of God. I don’t think Paul made it to 4 because Jesus stepped in and said that was enough. He told Paul, I don’t want to hear it again. I’m not doing anything because what I have already done on the Cross is all I’m going to do. We are now under grace, and His grace is sufficient. Some things God just isn’t going to do.
