Today is weigh-in day. This happens about 52 times a year usually on Saturday. That means this is Saturday. And this is the first Saturday in June. What does all this mean? Nothing. Well it just means that once again I must step on the scale to see if the fat cells have released any fat. The scale is very non-committal. I actually have to step on it to register any weight loss—at least I hope it is a fat loss. Nope, still the same.
There is still a great debate about the relative importance of the scale. Many think there are many better means of measuring your success. They would say that the tape measure or how your clothes fit are just as good. I have found that if the scale doesn’t go down, my measurements are not going down either. Some, however, would say O contraire. They have lost inches when the scale didn’t move. How is that possible? The weight has to go somewhere.
I don’t want to labor the point. Actually, I don’t mind laboring a little, but what is the point? If you are on a weight loss journey, you want to lose weight.
I take polls now and then. I’m always curious about a poll which will ask “This or That.” Like squats or lunges. For some reason the pollster will give three options: squats, lunges, or other. To me it’s this – squats, or that – lunges. Maybe you don’t like either but the question is between the two, which would you chose. I’m always amazed by how many will put “other.” I don’t see why there is an “other”. Maybe you can’t do squats or lunges but the question is between the two, not other as in I can’t do either. But people think differently, so I guess that’s why there is an “other.”
If you haven’t changed your calendars, go do that now.
