The Bible says, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat” Matthew 7:13
You have probably heard preaching on entering the narrow gate. You go through either the narrow gate to Heaven or the broad gate to Hell. However, have you thought about this in terms of your weight loss?
In Rock City, a roadside attraction near Chattanooga, Tennessee on Lookout Mountain, there is a part of the walk called the fat man’s squeeze. It’s narrow opening through large rock cliffs. It’s interesting that they call the gates wide and narrow. I looked at a YouTube video of a hefty man going through the squeeze.
You can find health through the narrow gate. I see the narrow gate for dieters as the discipline needed to lose weight. It’s not easy. That’s why not many make it through. You have to lose weight to make it through the gate. It’s possible to get through the narrow gate. It may take some doing on your part, but never think that it is impossible.
The alternative is the wide gate. Everyone can get through it. It’s not the way to health but destruction. How many people die early because of obesity? This is the wide way. You can easily fit through it. It’s the easy way out. Just sit on the couch and snack on junk food. Just allow all the problems in life to pile up and try to eat them away. It doesn’t work. Most people are going through the wide gate. There are neon signs, saying, “Eat at Joe’s.” That is not the way to weight loss.
The way of the dieter is hard. It’s a squeeze. You will have to give up something to make it through. The narrow way is the only way to weight loss success. You can do it.
