“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh” (2 Corinthians 10:3). We can’t use fleshly tools or weapons to defeat spiritual problems. (“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;” (2 Corinthians 10:4). We do have mighty weapons that are not worldly weapons or fleshly weapons. Obesity is a stronghold. It is hard to defeat a stronghold with carnal weapons when the stronghold is in the mind . The battlefield is the mind, so that’s why we must use God’s weapons not our own. We have to renew the mind from worldly thinking—how can I fix this—with spiritual weapons—what God has done through Jesus. The worldly way is in opposition to the knowledge of God. Our minds see us as obese. But that’s not who we are in Christ. God sees us how He designed us. He sees what we can be. We see in a mirror dimly. But through beholding Jesus we are changed. We know ourselves as we are in Christ.
