Sadness is probably the emotion that evokes the worst diet traumas. Depression can lead to overeating. Life here on earth can deal out some tough blows. This is a make or break situation for the dieter. It’s easy to rush to food for consoling us during times of sadness. Some situations are life changing, but we can’t let these things change us for the negative. This is where having faith can really help. When we wrap up our whole life in certain people, things, places, etc. and something happens to them, we can go into deep depression over loss. But when we fix our life first on Jesus who never changes, the external things may come and go, but our focus is not on these things. Yes, we could be temporarily sad, but then we realize that life goes on; and as we keep our focus on Jesus, we know He is working out things for our good. We can get past it and our diet which may not seem much in comparison at the time, is still important and we can stay the course. Don’t let sadness rob you of the joy that is in you.
