Before I go farther with the line of thought we have been looking at, I hear some who say I’m bringing religion into dieting. First, I’m not bringing religion into dieting; I’m bringing Jesus into it. You might say, “what’s the difference? Isn’t Jesus religion?” That’s true only for the unbeliever. However, religion is “a particular system of faith and worship.” Jesus is a Person. He sits at the right hand of God. For the believer He is in us. We have a personal relationship with Him; therefore, He provides help for the dieter. Second, 90% of dieters fail. It’s because it’s too hard to do by yourself. We haven’t been doing well apart from Him. In fact, Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5 NKJV). Nothing means dieting also. So without Jesus in our diet attempts we shall surely fail.
