Do you have the weekend eating problem? You do well all week, but on the weekends, it doesn’t go so good. You aren’t the only one. This is a common problem. “The structure of a weekday routine makes it easier to stick to a healthy eating plan, but on weekends there’s less structure, and temptations are everywhere,” says nutritionist Joy Bauer, MS, RD, author of Slim and Scrumptious: More Than 75 Delicious, Healthy Meals Your Family Will Love.
Charlene and I live the retired life so weekends aren’t quite the problem, but they still are troublesome. We have to fit into other people’s workweek. Sundays we go to church and we like to eat out after church. Weekends are potentially problematic.
If you think that you are going to have diet failure because it is the weekend, you probably will. On the other hand, if you don’t expect failure, you will probably succeed.
Yesterday we looked at turning negatives into positives. The root of your thinking comes from your heart. Jesus calls it “treasure.” It’s stored in your heart. You probably have heard of “positive thinking.” Norman Vincent Peale made that popular. Robert Schuller added to the positive thinking teaching.
“What the mind can conceive and believe, and the heart desire, you can achieve”―Norman Vincent Peale. This is just one of many quotes that speak to the idea that positive thinking can help you achieve success.
The church as a whole has rejected their teaching. They continue on in their negative restricted thinking. However, a person who has the grace of God richly dwelling within will be a super positive person. The treasure of the heart will come out through renewed thinking. As we know, staying on a diet involves motivation. If only negative things come out of your heart and mouth, then dieting will be virtually impossible.
When the positive comes out of your mouth and renews your thinking, then you have a good chance of succeeding in your weight loss journey. You actually speak your destiny of health and wellbeing. That is positive thinking flowing from a positive grace working in your life.
