“But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do” (1 Corinthians 8:8). Our relationship to Jesus is the most important thing. God loves you for who you are, not what you look like. You are God’s favorite no matter what. You will not make Him mad or turn His back on you if you eat a Twinkie or any other “forbidden” food. When you really understand that you are not condemned for what you eat or drink, you will be one step closer to weight loss success. Any guilt you feel is not from God. If you have asked Him to help you diet, He will not do so by making you feel guilty or ashamed of what you ate. God will empower you to make the right choices, and as we said many times before, if you want to rather than need to lose weight, there are choices to make. Some foods help your lose weight and some don’t. God will strengthen you to make the right choice. Any guilt you feel is manmade and caused by your belief system which needs correction. Renew you mind to know God is totally for you and never against you. His love is unconditional.
