The second criteria for choosing a weight-loss diet after “can you lose weight on it”, is it sustainable? In other words, can you stick to it?
This is where problems with diets quickly develop. The fad diets for example, are notorious for selecting one or two foods to eat. The Cabbage Soup Diet is a 7-day meal plan, aimed at achieving fast weight loss with use of a simple cabbage soup recipe. Though it is a short-term diet, it has lots of serious drawbacks. The quick weight loss is probably due to the low calories than cabbage. There are many diets with this short life span because they are just too hard to live with and require too much will power.
Most of the diets I’ve been on have gotten old fast. Since most of us dieters are long-term dieters, we will have to eat the food recommended all our lives. It really must involve a lifestyle change. It’s the food we are presently eating that has made us overweight, so we have to change the foods we eat. That’s the hard part to any diet.
