“Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). What is the vision you have for your life? What is your personal mission statement? How does your weight fit that picture? We live in a world where we are judged by looks. How do people judge you? If you are obese or overweight, then their judgments are not going to be that good. This is the way the world thinks. I don’t mean we have to fit into the world’s way of thinking especially when it comes to weight. Most of us who are overweight know the struggle with self-image and our desire not to be rejected by others. The dieting world knows that being overweight is symptomatic of internal problems and issues. That’s part of why we want to lose. We don’t want the identification associated with being fat. Even though people are mean and judgmental about the overweight, it shouldn’t be so with us who are overweight. We walk in those shoes. We know the problems of carrying around extra weight. I’m still on my weight-loss journey, but as of the middle of March, I had lost 30 pounds. That’s a heavy pack of rocks.
