Today is Mother’s Day. So what are we doing on Mother’s Day? We are going out to eat. But, it is on plan. Holidays and eating go hand in hand it seems. There is something about celebration that includes eating, and when you have someone else prepare it, so much the better.
We are taking my mother out to Wabi Sabi which means “It is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional”.
It’s one of those Japanese places that cook the food in front of you with usually a little showmanship and flare. It’s a good place to go for Mother’s Day. I don’t remember much about Mother’s Day when I was young. I suspect my mother cooked. In the earlier years we probably went to Grandma Lewis’s house as I remember eating there a few times. Sometimes it was at Aunt Mildred’s house.
I’m thankful for my Mom. I’m thankful she can still go to Wabi Sabi for a celebration. Enough cannot be said about the importance of mothers. Today the mother is all there is in many families. Mothers are the go-to person for kids in the family.
Just want to say on another Mother’s Day—Thanks Mom. I Love You.
