Happy 4th of July. Time for healthy family eating even if family is just two of us. Summer and July 4th is a good time for BBQ. Toss a chicken piece on the Barbie. Or if you don’t want to cook, then off to the nearest BBQ place for a diet friendly menu. The results are good taste, good fun, and good fellowship. Grilled chicken and salad is good. Or even a grilled chicken salad is diet friendly. Watch the dressing though. We often take our own diet dressing. Our dressing must meet the criteria of 35 calories or less per tablespoon and sodium 280 mg or less. Not many meet that and taste good. Actually not many meet that at all. Most of the BBQ sides are not on our diet plan. No Mac n’ Cheese or baked beans, potato salad, or coleslaw. So today celebrate our nation’s Independence Day. If you are not from here, celebrate summer with good eating.
