Happy Birthday to Me. Yes, it’s another birthday. Seem like they come around once a year. Time rolls on by fast when you’re having fun. Wasn’t but 75 years ago I was born in Eureka, California. Lived there until we moved to Korbel, California as my father worked in a lumber mill. Lumber was an essential industry so he didn’t have to go to war. After the war was over, we moved to Ashland, Oregon where I grew up through my school years. Haven’t been back there in many years, but people who have been there say it has changed a lot.
That’s the way life is. Your old favorite places change. My favorite coffee places come and go. More traffic, more people. There were approximately 130 million people back when I was born, and now there’s about 325 million. I’ve added to the population with four kids, eight grandkids, and five great grandkids. I remember when you drove through countryside from one city to the next, now they run together. Around Atlanta, you often don’t know the city you’re in when sitting at a traffic light. There have been the normal vicissitudes of life but life is good and I’m going to have a piece of cake—regular cake.
