“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18). Are you still suffering with excess weight? Suffering is a mental battle. Is not eating pizza suffering? Is not stopping by Ben & Jerry’s suffering? Is dieting suffering? It shouldn’t be. That’s part of that old way of thinking. It’s by grace you are losing weight and it’s to the glory of God. You are coming closer to your designed weight and more closely to what God had chosen for you. He has a plan for your life. Being overweight and obese was not part of that plan. Somehow we got off track. But dieting and losing weight is getting us closer to that plan. That doesn’t mean God loves us less or has abandoned the plan because we got off track. The diet isn’t the plan, but it’s a means to the plan. Of course you can still serve God and show forth His good works in you, but how better would it be if you didn’t have overweight on your shoulders? God is not mad at you for gaining weight. He loves you the same whether you are fat or skinny. However, the Word of God is God’s way of success whether it be finances or weight control. It’s about you enjoying this life. It’s all good.
