I saw this the other day and thought this is good. “Get a mantra. You’ve heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy? If you keep focusing on things you can’t do, like resisting junk food or getting out the door for a daily walk, chances are you won’t do them. Instead (whether you believe it or not), repeat positive thoughts to yourself. “I can lose weight.” “I will get out for my walk today.” “I know I can resist the pastry cart after dinner.” Repeat these phrases and before too long, they will become true for you.” Of course this is right from the Bible. We might not call it a mantra, but it is speaking forth what the word says about your situation. It is helpful to make positive affirmations, but you can go one step farther and quote what God says about you. Joseph Prince says the 5 words of grace are “The battle is the Lord’s.” If we can get this deep into our believer then we can rest in the fact that God is taking care of the struggle—the battle of the bulge. It is true that the more you say something the more it becomes true for you. It gets into the heart where your beliefs live.
