For those of us that are trying to get rid of weight, a scary fact looms over us. Once you create a fat cell by excessive eating, it is yours for good and never goes away. The most that you can do is remove the fat from the fat cell and thus reduce its size. The only way to get rid of fat cells is to have them removed through liposuction surgery or Lipoplasty. Other than that drastic procedure, your fat cells are with you forever.
When we are born, we are born with a certain number of fat cells. A typical infant has 5-6 billion fat cells. A healthy adult who has healthy body fat has 25-30 billion, and an overweight adult has 75 billion, with severe obesity; this number is as high as 250 to 300 billion! That is 10 times what a healthy person has. An overweight person’s fat cells are up to 3 times larger than a person with ideal body composition can.
You can see why severe or morbidly obese may have to option for the liposuction once they have lost a great deal of weight. The other concern here is that the overweight person is up to three times larger because of the excess fat.
That’s where diets and exercise comes in. That why there is a $40 billion diet industry. We are trying to get those fat cells depleted. That is a hard thing to do. I have a feeling that some of those fat cells have fat from decades ago. Some of us empty some of them and then fill them up again.
Ideally, we should keep our ideal weight all our life. However, some of us have gained some weight and filled the available fat cells. The body accommodates our overeating and creates some new fat cells. We can’t do anything about the number of fat cells. All we can do is empty the fats cells as best we can. That is dieting—emptying fat cells.
So empty those fat cells. Get rid of the fat.
