I’ve been on a plateau again for several days. I get up hoping to see a change in the scale but nothing. I walk 4 miles a day. I worked out in the yard—hard work and yet no drop. When I walk, I have an app running to tell me my time and distance and how many calories I burn. I usually use enough calories to burn off a meal. But yet nothing moves. Here is when I could allow discouragement to set in or I can buckle down for the long haul. I’m choosing to stay the course. Someone might say, ‘well ,it’s the Lord testing your faith’. No, it’s not. It’s my body adjusting to weight loss. It’s part of the creator’s design. The body falls into certain patterns and when those are changed and changed a lot, it takes some time to readjust to new patterns. It’s like the body saying you’ve been on these diets many times and they soon go away. But this time it doesn’t appear it’s going away, so we have to adjust to this new way of feeding. This is the time to buckle down, not buckle under, and reach out for more of God’s amazing grace.
