Excuse – I start vacation tomorrow. Or it might be the next week. As a retired senior, we don’t go on vacation, we go on trips. A vacation is “a period of suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel.” Other than the travel, our days are pretty much the same as usual. That time getting ready for a trip can be a time to let down your guard and go out to eat or just begin the vacation eating. Vacations, or trips require planning ahead. If you aren’t a planner, then it will be difficult. If you are a spontaneous type, trips or vacations will be more difficult while on a weight loss diet. There have been times we just let go and gained 10-to-15 pounds on a trip. Pounds are easy to put on but hard to take off. Instead of thinking you are taking a vacation from your diet, take your diet with you. Okay have a treat, but get in some walking or hiking. Don’t delay your diet because of a trip. Learn to manage your weight loss journey while on vacation. If you eat out more, then eat according to plan. It’s all good.
