Excuse – It’s a family tradition. I heard of a family who always meets at Golden Corral on Friday night for dinner. Now I’m all for family traditions. We have always had a family custom of going out to eat on any of our birthdays and allowing the birthday person to choose the place. My earliest remembrance of this was allowing our three-year-old daughter to choose her restaurant when we were in Kingston, New York on business. Of all the great-to-eat places, she wanted KFC. We got KFC and ate it in our motel room. She was happy, and the budget was happy. Course, her tastes grew, and no more KFC.
There is something about the family gathering together from time to time for a meal. Golden Corral gives everyone a chance to pick what they want, and overeat. A person with great will power could go to a buffet and eat, but the sight of so much food leads most overweight people astray. If you have to go to maintain family unity, go and try your best to eat what’s on your plan—a big salad and gobs of veggies, a small piece of meat, and skip the dessert bar.
