Excuse – Dieting makes me constipated. This can be a problem if you are on a low-carb diet especially. If you have cut out whole grains or wheat, you may have a tendency to go slow. Chronic constipation is infrequent bowel movements or difficult passage of stools that persists for several weeks or longer. The medical community describes constipation as having fewer than three bowel movements a week. Yikes. High protein diets tend to have less fruit and vegetables. It’s hard to get the needed fiber when you cut back on veggies.
Try to get in some high fiber veggies along with fruits. I know most low-carb diets don’t add much fruit. Some diets eliminate fruit. If your diet allows, eat more beans. Make sure you drink lots of water. Maybe cut the caffeine or eliminate it as it acts as a diuretic and takes water from the digestion track. Cut your stress if possible. It may be that a natural laxative could help. We get a tea called Smooth Move, which helps with occasional problems. In the end if it is a serious condition for you, consider doing a different diet. Constipation is annoying to say the least, but dangerous if you don’t deal with it.
