I like to read the Proverbs and just see the advice Solomon gives us on everyday living. He does give some advice on eating sweets.
“Do you like honey? Don’t eat too much, or it will make you sick!” (Proverbs 25:16 NLT)
The Message Bible has modernized it. “When you’re given a box of candy, don’t gulp it all down; eat too much chocolate and you’ll make yourself sick.”
Don’t gulp it all down. Sounds like us dieters. We can’t eat just one piece we eat the whole thing. I bought some Trader Joe’s dark chocolate, which is good for you, intending to eat a small square of it a day. How did that work for you Jack? Not so good. I might have started out doing that, but after two days I ate the whole thing. I didn’t get sick but I probably slowed or halted my weight loss progress.
We just have to heed the admonition—don’t eat too much. Maybe a little treat once in a while, but don’t gulp it all down. Eat Healthy.
