“40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things” (Luke 10:40-41 NKJV).
This is the story of when Jesus came to visit Mary and Martha. It’s interesting because it’s about food. Martha was in a dither trying to fix a nice meal for everyone. When Jesus went somewhere there were always many people there. Martha wanted to fix a fancy meal for Jesus out of true respect for Him. But she was getting frustrated when her sister Mary didn’t help her.
Jesus told Martha all this was worrying and troubling her unnecessarily. Mary just wanted to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to Him. Sometimes we get troubled about our diets and what to fix and all the work that goes into a complicated recipe. If you can’t enjoy it, don’t do it. Fix something simple and healthy. Don’t be troubled about your diet. It’s not the most important thing in your life.
