More observations about our trip to California. We took a large ice chest and were able to keep ice in it along the way. Some nights we had a refrigerator with an ice compartment where we could refreeze the ice. Other times we had to refill from the motel ice machine, but we were able to keep the ice chest cold. We took a George Forman grill, an egg poacher, and a vegetable steamer. We prepared enough food ahead for each leg of the trip and didn’t need the grill along the way. Most motels don’t have much room for cooking anything. We also took boiled eggs, so we didn’t use the egg poacher until we got to our destination. The motels we stayed at also had boiled eggs for breakfast. We used the motel toaster to fix our morning toast. So we covered breakfast well.
