Excuse – Chocolate is a vegetable. Someone said that chocolate is a vegetable. They get chocolate from cacao beans. Bean = vegetable. Actually, many say it’s a fruit. Others say that it is a food group. Whether chocolate is a fruit or vegetable you’d think it is healthy, like eating a salad. A 1.5 ounce Hershey bar is 210 calories with tons of sugar. Okay, you only eat dark chocolate containing 75-85% cocoa. One ounce is 170 calories and not so much sugar. Let’s see, one ounce of carrots is 12 calories with very little sugar. One ounce of an apple is 15 calories with a little more natural sugar. Chocolate might be a fruit or vegetable but when processed, it becomes candy. Now some call raw chocolate healthy, but not calorie free—about 120 an ounce of powder. Now I would be the first to say you don’t have to give up chocolate to lose weight. I’ve read where a woman lost over 100 pounds and still had a taste of chocolate every day. If you figure it into you calorie count per day, then have a taste—operative word—taste. Over eating chocolate will definitely lead to overweight. Skip the excuse and skip the processed chocolate if it triggers bad cravings.
