“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). Casting down wrong thinking and taking those thoughts captive. When those thoughts about food which could cause you to fail in your diet come into your mind, recognize them as thoughts that don’t have your best diet interests. Toss them out. My diet is fairly restrictive which is my choice, and when a thought about something I like such as pizza comes into my mind, I immediately recognize that I don’t have pizza on my list of foods. So I’m not going to dwell on foods I can’t have. Maybe someday I’ll have a piece of pizza; maybe not. Ironically, I just sat down to eat and saw a Papa John pizza commercial. It’s no big deal if I don’t eat that any more. It made me obese and I’m not going there again. So I surround that roaming thought with good arguments against it. It’s lassoed, captured, and tossed out.
