“…be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded” (2 Chronicles 15:7) I’ve been dieting for many years. I remember doing the Scarsdale Diet which came out in 1978. That’s how many years I’ve been at it, off and on. Obviously it has all been failure except for helping keep my weight from totally running away with me. I have never given up on dieting though but I’ve given up plenty of times on different diets. This time I refuse to give up on the diet and on dieting. God told King Asa to be strong in the face of huge armed forces. That’s what the word is for us dieters. Be strong. Be courageous. Be strengthened by His might. Paul said it this way. “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13 NASB) Stand strong in faith. The diet battle is a faith battle. The battle is not ours but the Lord’s as we acknowledge Him. The more we lean on Jesus, the stronger we become and able to overcome even the worst diet struggles.
