An excuse is self-destruction. The only one an excuse hurts is you. Now if you are obese and you excuse yourself from losing weight, then your excuse will eventually hurt others. However, it starts with you. You are your own decision maker. Whatever you decide affects you directly. This applies to life as well as weight loss. Some people, mostly women, put others before themselves and that’s noble, but not helpful to them. Putting off weight loss is neglecting yourself. An excuse is just self neglect—self-destruction.
I can say these things because I have no ulterior motive in trying to get you to diet if you are obese or overweight. I’m hoping the love comes through to you. As Saint John said, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2 NKJV). I pray you will live a long healthy life. I’m concerned about that if you are overweight or obese. You can do this one good thing for yourself. Don’t let an excuse keep you from a happy life. Weight loss by itself isn’t going to make you happy, but it goes a long way toward that end.
