Another observation I made on my last trip was that no matter how well I think I’m doing on my diet, it doesn’t take much to throw it into chaos. We often stopped at McDonald’s for senior coffee and a pit stop. The menus and advertising draw your attention and it would be easy to grab a $1 breakfast burrito or something similar. Each motel had a continental breakfast. It was hard to pass up all the things they had. We did get some eggs which were probably powered eggs or some such thing. A couple of mornings we did get a pastry. All in all considering all things, it didn’t hurt, but they were not on the diet. My flesh is weak when it comes to pastries and donuts. Fortunately, all the other times I had a voice telling me to pass them up. Don’t look is what I usually hear. It certainly helped but I observed that I am still not impervious to those things. I walk on the edge each trip we take. Though I won’t be on a strict diet forever, it just shows that if I am not real careful, I can slip down the slope to weight gain.
