3. “Lose weight forever…you’ll never need to diet again!”
I haven’t seen this one. I have seen “lose weight and keep it off.” I just did a Google search and sure enough, there is a Lose Weight Forever Diet by Karen Sessions. There is also a diet called Lose It Fast, Lose it Forever by Pete Thomas a past Biggest Loser contestant. Now I know they don’t mean once it’s gone, it’s forever gone. At least I hope not. However, it’s interesting they are using these terms. I think it is an editor saying, “We can sell this if we call it this.”
Somehow, the program you follow will solve your weight loss problems forever. Therefore, follow the program and you will never have to do it again.
Any dieter knows that if you slack at all, you will gain weight. Once a dieter, always a dieter. Even when you are on maintenance, you have to watch what you eat. Watching what you eat is diet control.
For weight loss to be permanent, it requires lifestyle changes. On-going maintenance is always necessary.
A few people don’t have to watch their diets. They are the rare few. Most of us struggle just to lose the weight. Most of us never reach our goals. Most dieters never go on maintenance. People with weight challenges will always have those challenges.
Now you might find a lifestyle change that you can use forever to maintain your weight goal. You may find a diet that you can use the rest of your life. But’s that it. You have to do this the rest of your life. You can’t just lose and forget about it.
